I few months ago I welcomed to the world my 3rd baby, a little girl. I thought that things were going to be great. I said to myself "I got this" boy was I wrong. The new baby came with a lot of challenges that I was not prepared for. Birth and recovery was not easy. My legs were swollen for over 2 weeks. But that was nothing compared to my breastfeeding relationship with my new little bundle of joy. That went wrong too. Now I'm in the process of switching to formula. Guess what? She's absolutely happy.
Now, the chaos and heartache I've experienced in the last 2 years had left me wondering about my future as a photographer. I discovered a lot of new things about me. Some good, some not so good. I realized that if I want to continue my photography it has to be in own my terms. This means photographing what I really want. You are probably asking yourself "What's that?" Well documentary/ lifestyle photography. It fills up my heart like nothing else. Unrehearsed, unplanned, unpredictable, unplugged, just life.
I had an unplanned mini shoot with my kids at the park recently. Those images answered the question I had in my mind for so long. I want to photograph families, children, and special intimate lifetime events this way. I want my viewers to feel and experience who I am and what I do through my imagery. Not only that, I want them to feel what they felt over an over, when I took those photo. To me that's what makes a photograph valuable. Priceless.
My kids at the park.
As time goes by I can't see myself not doing this forever. I look at this images and I couldn't feel happier.
My husband, the little baby girl and my little boy.... Sleeping.
Now I look around and all I see is lots of opportunities to create and share my love for this art, photography.
What's your love? Care to share? I loved to know.
